The LIFE community has gone to a whole new level! With the launch of the Mental Fitness Challenge and the incentive trips more people than ever before are ready to get to work and move forward!

One of the most attractive things the LIFE Team offers is community. What is community? Here is the definition from Wikipedia:

The term community has two distinct meanings: 1) A group of interacting people, living in some proximity (i.e., in space, time, or relationship). Community usually refers to a social unit larger than a household that shares common values and has social cohesion. The term can also refer to the national community or international community, and, 2) in biology, a community is a group of interacting living organisms sharing a populated environment.  A community is a group or society, helping each other.

This is one of the biggest assest the LIFE community offers to its members, “a social unit larger than a household that shares common values and has social cohesion. A group helping each other out!”

I recently was able to attend and speak at a LIFE business launch with a few hundred LIFE members excited to learn and move their lives and businesses forward.

This video is just a small part of the LIFE members in Southern Wisconsin that have decided to come together and win in business and in life! There is something very powerful when a group of people learn to succeed as a team. LIFE has created a business that in its very operation begins to restore social capital (community) in a world that desperately needs it. Listen to what Robert D. Putnam has to say about the importance of social capital:

If community exists, both freedom and security may exist as well. The community then takes on a life of its own, as people become free enough to share and secure enough to get along. The sense of connectedness and formation of social networks comprise what has become known as social capital.[4]

Social capital is defined by Robert D. Putnam as “the collective value of all social networks and species (who people know) and the inclinations that arise from these works to do things for each other (norms of reciprocity).”[5] Social capital in action can be seen in all sorts of groups, including neighbors keeping an eye on each others’ homes. However, as Putnam notes in Bowling Alone: The Collapse and Revival of American Community (2000), social capital has been falling in the United States. Putnam found that over the past 25 years, attendance at club meetings has fallen 58 percent, family dinners are down 33 percent, and having friends visit has fallen 45 percent.[6]

The same patterns are also evident in many other western countries. Western cultures are thus said to be losing the spirit of community that once were found in institutionsincluding churches and community centers. Sociologist Ray Oldenburg states in The Great Good Place that people need three places: 1) the home, 2) the office, and, 3) the community hangout or gathering place.[7] With this philosophy in mind, many grassroots efforts such as The Project for Public Spaces are being started to create this “Third Place” in communities. They are taking form in independent bookstores, coffeehouses, local pubs, and through new and innovative means to create the social capital needed to foster the sense and spirit of community.[8]

I love that on at least a weekly basis the LIFE Community gathers to learn, share and expand the community! When people are evaluating your community they usually have at least three components:

1) What are the values this group stands for and believes in? The LIFE community is a group that understands that you need to believe in something or you will fall for anything! We share our values and beliefs through audio training, web cast, videos and,  live events where the top speakers in the LIFE community share with members and customers.

2) Who are the people that are part of the community and what are they like? LIFE has weekly opportunities to get around the people involved and get to know them. We have live events every other week where someone can come and associate with other like minded people and build strong relationship and social capital.

3) Can I add value and contribute to this community? LIFE has launched small groups on a bi-weekly based called challenge groups. This is a place where all members can learn great principles and then share how they have or will implement them in their lives. Everyone has something to share to help all of us get better!

In the book Grouped by Paul Adams he shares why we like to talk and share with others:

When researchers have studied why people share, they have consistently found that many do it to help others. This is an altruistic act with no expected reciprocity. For many, it is important to them to be perceived as helpful, and so they try to share content that they think other people will find valualbe. This is especially clear when we see people share information that may not reflect positively on themselves.

The LIFE Challenge groups give people a platform to share from personal experience and help others.

These are just a couple of thoughts on the power of community and what LIFE is doing to restore better ideas and social capital back into our local communities!

Orrin Woodward has published an incredible article on Compensated Communities that explains even further how the LIFE Community is restoring social capital!

I had to share this video and my thoughts from one of my closest friends Steve Leurquin. I was doing my daily reading when I came upon his latest post on friendship and wanted to share another perspective on the same video. Please read Steve’s article as mine will be tied in to his!

In a world where negative and skepticism is king how do people find the courage to bring out their greatness? I love this video because it explains how it is still possible to live your dreams and become a hero. How many people like Jonathan have greatness within but lack the friend and the stage to bring it out!

The LIFE Community is on a quest to offer both! In Orrin Woodward’s book Resolved 13 Resolutions for Life he teaches the principles of friendship. Everyone who takes the Mental Fitness Challenge is being trained to be that friend for the people around them in their community. Along with learning the right information, LIFE offers association on a weekly basis with like minded people who want you to live the life you’ve always wanted!

The LIFE Team offers a stage for you to shine just like this TV show gave Jonathan his chance. The LIFE compensation plan was created to reward those willing to go through the process: learn, do and then teach!

My friend Orrin Woodward is a prime example of this, from engineer to best selling author and leadership expert. Orrin was given friends for encouragement, a system to grow and a stage to showcase his greatness. In response to all of the blessings he has received he and 7 other co-founders created LIFE to offer this to anyone willing to learn and grow! Orrin, just like Jonathan, displayed his character by not running into the sun with his success but sticking to his friends’ side to bring them along for the journey and help them bring out their greatness!

Never again can you say, I wish I had my chance, it is here!

Enjoy this video and I hope you tear up as you see the greatness that is posible in YOU when encouragement, friendship, courage and character meet!

God bless,

Dan Hawkins

Sometimes the best ideas are not earth shaking, but when applied properly can change everything! The Mental Fitness Challenge and LIFE materials are designed from people who have proven results in life and want to share the small secrets that make a big difference!

I love the following story because it makes the point, the right ideas applied make a big difference and the right information is worth paying for.

In the early 1900′s, management consultant Ivy Lee visited Charles Schwab, the president of the Bethlehem Steel company (it’s NOT the investments Charles Schwab that you’re probably thinking about :)

Ivy Lee asked Schwab what it would be worth to him if he could raise the productivity of his managers by at least 20%. Schwab said that he didn’t know the exact figure, but it would definitely be worth a substantial amount.

Lee then said that he would teach Schwab a simple time management technique in less than 10 minutes that would raise the productivity of his staff by at least 20%, if not more.

Lee insisted that he didn’t want to be paid up front. After a month of using the technique, Schwab could decide for himself how much it was worth and send him a check.

Schwab agreed without hesitation.

Lee then said, “First, write down all the tasks that you need to do. Then at the start of each day, select the six most important items you want to do that day and rank them in order of priority.

Start working on the first item and don’t stop until you are done or have gone as far as you can.

Then, reprioritize the remaining items based on the reality of the day and start working on the next highest item.

If something comes up during the day, only stop working on your current task if the new item is more important; otherwise just add it to your list.

If you don’t complete all the items on your list, don’t worry, just start again tomorrow in the same way.”

Schwab taught the technique to all his staff. After just one month, he was so impressed with the results that he sent Ivy Lee a check for $25,000, which is about $300,000 in today’s dollars… Not bad for a day’s work!

The-life-business.com was design by some of the top minds in leadership and success training today. The information in the Mental Fitness Challenge and LIFE subscriptions was built from decades of working with people and helping them improve in all categories of life.

Please read some of the testimonies that the LIFE materials are producing.

What area of life do you want to improve? What tools do you currently have to help you improve your thinking to get better results?

Mental fitness should be your top priority because it affects everything else in your life!

Take the Mental Fitness Challenge today and start living the life you’ve always wanted!

Leaders in LIFE on the move!

Wow, LIFE is exploding! We have some more recognition to give out today to a couple that is building the-life-business right!

Dave and Leah Stadel have moved on to the Turbo 50 level using the-team.biz training system, and are at the Leader level in the life compensation plan! Dave and Leah have proven to be solid leaders taking their community in the right direction. This recognition is a measure of how many people you are helping succeed in LIFE! The LIFE business offers world class information in the form of audios, books and events. The Turbo 50 level is a measurement of how many people you have coming to a LIFE event to learn. This is a significant level to hit because you are leading over 100 people to life changing information and association.

The Stadels have been in the home based business industry for a number of years working hard but not seeing the fruit of their labor. Now that they have joined LIFE and use the-team.biz training system they are hitting levels far above anything they have achieved in the past. This is a prime example of a couple who had the will and hunger to win but were lacking the right vehicle.

Dave and Leah are quickly becoming some of the top leaders in the Team STEALTH organization and making an impact though out the country!

Congratulations Dave and Leah for deciding to move on and live the life you have always wanted!

God bless,

Dan Hawkins

Success stories in LIFE Team

Eric and Miriam Schilling Brand New Turbo 50′s: Pig Farmer to Carpenter….Turned Entrepreneur with LIFE Leadership

One of my favorite parts of building LIFE leadership groups is watching the transformation that happens in an individual’s, or couple’s, life.  When starting out on the leadership journey, I remember hearing from LIFE founders Dan HawkinsOrrin Woodward and George Guzzardo, “If you can help the new person win in life, you will be rewarded too.”

For the last few years, Michelle and I have had the privilege of working with a young couple, Eric and Miriam Schilling, from Watertown, Wisconsin.  I met Eric when he was a freshman in high school.  He is the son of Mike and Robin Schilling and Mike and I worked together in the pharmacy.  I was always impressed how Mike and Robin balanced many “hats”:  pharmacist, home-school mother, and pig farmers all at the same time.

Eric graduated from high school as an accomplished wrestler, entered the carpentry trade, and met his soon-to-be wife Miriam in their late teens.  When Eric and Miriam were introduced to an entrepreneur opportunity with the TEAMleadership training, they jumped on board.

Were they excited at first?  No!  But what we have witnessed first-hand is a man and woman transformed before our eyes.  Eric has gone from not liking people to learning how to become a compassionate listener and a man who appreciates relationships.  Miriam has changed from a mild, unconfident teenager into a extremely competent student and leader of many people.  Below is a selection from her LIFE testimony.

On average, in the U.S., a suicide happens every 17 seconds….. When I left high school, I had a deep sense of hopelessness for this life. When I was introduced to the information that LIFE has to provide, that feeling was lifted. In it’s place was a sure sense of purpose…..  The information I receive through the LLR series gave me a sense of personal responsibility for my community, showed me the role I could play in my country, and how my actions do effect the bigger picture.

Earlier in February, Eric and Miriam were recognized as new Turbo 50′s at aTEAM/LIFE leadership seminar.  That means they had at least 50 people in 2 different organizations each, learning and growing in a LIFE environment.  WOW!  How many 20-something-year-olds do you know that lead over 100 people?  They will be the first to admit that it couldn’t have been accomplished without the help of a tremendous team of developing leaders (see Josh and Kristina Meinel’s Turbo 25 recognition coming soon in a future post and Jeff and Kathy Wood’s Turbo 25 recognition).

I recently heard Miriam describe how the money they make from LIFE/TEAM leadership fills in the gaps when Eric’s job is slow during the winter season. (see LIFE Compensation Plan) And they’re just beginning!!

We are so proud of Eric and Miriam for hitting this milestone and we know it’s just a mile-marker in their journey toward greater victories…Pig farmer becoming millionaire! Matt

What does it mean to be a leader? Am I qualified, does leadership matter in my life? When I first was introduce to the-life-business.com and the-team.biz these questions ran around my head. Why would an auto mechanic and a day-care provider need leadership and life coaching in our lives?

Everyone is called upon to be a leader sometime during the course of their life. Listen to Chris Brady bring a dynamic talk on what a true leader really is! Leadership is about making a difference, small or large, in the moment, or in the future. Take initiative and become a true LEADER!!

Enjoy the video from leadership expert and founder of LIFE Chris Brady!

This success principle was a foreign concept to me before I got started in my leadership journey in LIFE/Team. What exactly does that mean?  Define what it is you want, learn from someone who has that, then do what they recommend.  Sounds easy doesn’t it?  So why do so many people find themselves unhappy with the results they have in life?  Perhaps their pride and ego stop them from learning or maybe their lack of faith keeps them from believing.

I used to get to the end of each day and think, what did I get done today?  What was different today than the day before?  Is this what hard work gets a person in life?  I wasn’t living my life intentionally.  I didn’t take the time to look at getting better everyday.  What did I want my financial picture to look like?  I wanted to be debt free, give to charities, and not get into fights with my spouse about late payments on bills.  I needed to stop taking financial advice from people in my life with credit card debt and furniture payments.  I found myself listening to audio recordings like, “- LLR 396 – The Ten Laws of Financial Management by Orrin Woodward” and “- LIFE 17 – Money as a Slave by Chris and Terri Brady”

I remember my husband posting on our bedroom ceiling how much money he wanted to have in the bank and how much he wanted us to make in a year.  I have to be honest, at first I thought, “yeah right.”  Then over time, from listening to our mentors, Orrin and Laurie Woodward, those numbers on our ceiling became a reality!  Why listen to Orrin and Laurie on financial advice?  Because they have what I wanted.  A debt free lifestyle, they pay cash for cars, and they are able to give freely to charities.

Does the “define, learn, do” principle work in other areas of life?  What about family?  Absolutely!  I defined my life as a stay at home mom, being able to instill my values and raise well mannered, respectful children.  I wanted to better understand my husband so that each discussion we had didn’t end in tears or yelling.  How was I to find that when I was surrounded by people who resolved conflict  the same way I did?

When I clearly knew what I  wanted my family life to look like, I learned from books like, The Five Love Language and  The DNA of Relationships.  I was convicted by the book, The Power of a Woman’s Words and was inspired by The Proper Care and Feeding of Your Marriage.  Once I had that information, next came the hard part, time to apply what I learned.  I found that many times after learning new information, if I wasn’t ready to apply that new found information, I would often ask myself “why?”  Why did I lack the courage to be honest with my current results?  Most of the time it was because I didn’t clearly define what I wanted and I lacked belief that it was possible to get that.

Sometimes for me I have a clear picture of what I want, I have abundant information at my fingertips, then it is up to me, not my spouse or others to make the necessary changes to live life on purpose.  I encourage you to do the same.  Clearly you are proving to be an eager student looking for information to improve upon areas of your life or you wouldn’t be reading this blog.  Now it’s up to you, you have a decision to make  Have you clearly defined what it is you want your life to look like?  Then I encourage you to start on your lifelong journey to learn in all areas of your life and then do what it takes to live an excellent and intentional life for others to also learn from.

God bless,

Lisa Hawkins

LIFE Founders:Bill Lewis, Dan Hawkins, Tim Marks, Orrin Woodward, Chris Brady, Claude Hamilton, George Guzzardo and Rob Hallstrand

The LIFE business is now in full swing and ready to make a difference for thousands and soon millions of people! Orrin Woodward began to study business back in the mid to late 90’s. The LIFE business is the result of years of education, both from training and experience. I am so thankful that Orrin was able to learn the Cashflow Quadrant from Kiyosaki in 1998, because it has drastically changed my life. I believe the LIFE business is the perfect business. The founders of LIFE are taking all of the principles Kiyosaki covers about networking and improve them! We are rewriting the rules of networking to be the perfect model for anyone who is ambitious, looking, teachable and honest. Please attend the next the-team.biz meeting to learn what this community is doing to make change happen!

Please enjoy this video I grabbed off of Orrin Woodwards’ Blog, and learn some of the basic principles behind owning your own business.

God bless, Dan Hawkins

I remember hearing Robert Kiyosaki for the first time in early 1998.  His Cashflow Quadrant message had a profound impact on my thinking and plans.  I realized that our key objective in our community building business was to change the way we think about money and people.  No longer was I working for money.  I was working on developing myself, a team, and a system to create duplicatable results.  If you get yourself, the team and the system right, the financial results would follow. This is an excellent video where Mr. Kiyosaki shares his business philosophies and why community building is the perfect business.  Enjoy the video.  God Bless, Orrin Woodward

What should I look for when considering starting a business? Orrin Woodward shares his perspective.

When you live in a world where 95% of the people make a living by having a job or running a self-employed business, many do not know what to look for when starting their own business. It was eight years ago when I first started considering launching as an entrepreneur. My first thought was to follow the herd and start a traditional auto repair shop, until I checked the cost, at least $500k just to open doors! Then I looked at the quality of life that business could provide and lets just say the long hours, low return and headaches were not much of an upside! 🙂

Orrin Woodward and the LIFE founders are ready to rewrite the rules of networking. We want to provide the best opportunity to improve your life and live your dreams. The downside risk is a better you for the lowest cost in the life coaching/leadership development market. The upside…..freedom, in all areas of life, the LIFE you have always wanted!

When I worked at Delphi division of GM, I completed half the classes for a Master’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Michigan. Although I received good grades and enjoyed the classes, I stopped pursuing my MBA in order to build my own business.

Many thought I was crazy to quit by MBA, but I just had a feeling that it was time for me to build my own business rather than continue to learn about business. In truth, I was ready to implement some of the principles that I had learned along with continuing my education in “the school of hard knocks”. :)

One of the best principles that I learned through my MBA program was to study business by asking two questions when studying any business:

1. What is the downside risk?
2. What is the upside reward?
